Two new projects focussing on organic plant breeding receive funding by the European Commission’s current Research Framework Programme Horizon 2020.
- BRESOV (“Breeding for Resilient, Efficient and Sustainable Organic Vegetable Production“) has set out to improve the competitiveness of three important vegetable crops (broccoli, snap bean and tomato) in an organic and sustainable environment.

- ECOBREED will improve the availability of seed and varieties suitable for organic and low- input production. Activities will focus on four crop species, selected for their potential contribution to increase competitiveness of the organic sector: wheat, potato, soybean and common buckwheat.
