International conference on breeding and seed sector innovations for organic food systems, taking place on 8 - 10 March 2021. The 5th conference of the EUCARPIA Organic and Low Input Section will host the final scientific conference of the Horizon 2020-funded project LIVESEED “Boosting Organic Seed and Plant Breeding Across Europe” that runs from 2017 to 2021, together with relevant sister-projects BRESOV and ECOBREED, and two projects of the Latvian National Fundamental and Applied Research Program.

Online seminar on how organic breeding adds value to the food chain. During the seminar, representatives of the breeding and food industry sector presented the benefits and challenges of organic breeding and provided insights on success stories of value-chain partnerships to promote organic breeding. The presentations included examples of ongoing small-scale value-chain based collaborations for securing funds for organic breeding (e.g. the Fair-Breeding® and Organic Sunflower Seed initiatives) as well as a concept for an integrated cross-sector funding pool strategy.
